Space Cuts

Concept

Space Cuts makes reference to the strategic design concept underlying the Phantom Lichtburg and the Space Decelerator, but also indirectly to Map Berlin and the METROPOLENHAUS. The starting point was the (large) city as a matrix that confronts the individual with an overflowing multitude of coded information. The Space Cuts counteracted the drifting apart of territorial space and individual perception in the form of concrete interventions in the dynamic matrix of the city. The Space Cuts thus created places of mental calm and physical experience – places where the re-anchoring of individual perception into the spatio-temporal experience of the here and now was made possible.
